Take a song that uses a lot of personal pronouns (my go-to is Avril Lavigne’s Sk8r Boi). Talk or sing through the song, replacing the pre-existing pronouns with the ones you want to practice (“Ey was a boy, xe was a girl”). If you mess up, you’re misgendering fictional people, and you get to practice all the different conjugations in pre-existing sentences, so it makes it a lot easier to internalize them than just talking to yourself while making up sentences on the fly, since you can more directly relate them to the conjugations of he/she that you already are familiar with.

Why I Need Feminism

I’ve gotten into so many arguments about feminism and why it’s relevant lately both on and off the internet I decided to make one of these.

That’s me. The pic on the left is what I look like. That’s what I wear to work, going out, everywhere.

On the right is what I would want to wear going out and hell even going for a coffee with my friends. I never do, though, because I’m afraid.

I’m afraid of the panic attack I have everytime a guy I don’t know touches me. Even if it’s on the arm and not threatening at all I feel so uncomfortable by unwanted physical attention I get physically ill.

I’m afraid that what happened when I once did go out in that dress might happen again: getting eye drops in my pint.

What angers me the most is when girls say they’re not feminists or that they don’t need feminism. WE ALL NEED IT. We all need a world where a girl can wear whatever she wants and

a) not get judged for wearing it and

b) doesn’t have to be afraid

It’s a joke in my circle of friends that I look like a 14-year-old boy. I don’t mind the joke, because it’s accurate and kind of funny to me. After reading up on feminism and all that on tumblr and following discussions and THINKING about thins stuff I realised why I feel more comfortable like that.

It’s because in the world I live in, it’s safer to be a 14-year-old boy than a 28-year-old woman.

I worked in a pet store for 5 years, and every Easter our rabbit sales went up exponentially. I can tell you from experience that almost half of the rabbits we sold were brought back in as early as two weeks after they were adopted. Some people let them loose, and some people send them to a shelter. People need to understand this very statement, and truly think about it. A rabbit is a big commitment, and should not be a fad or seen as a compulsory pet.

I cannot like this anymore than once, but I sure as hell hope people will spread this message, because it’s important as hell. I used to hand out care sheet BOOKLETS to everyone looking to adopt, and it prevented many of them from adopting in the end.

My mom got me a rabbit when I was around 11, and we ended up giving him away to someone else a few months later. We totally weren’t prepared for the commitment that caring for one takes (they’re not easy like cats are), so I can definitely attest to this. They’re cute, yeah, but their claws will scratch you and their poop gets everywhere and they’re really really fast and make a ton of noise. Unless you’re completely prepared to take on the challenge do not even think about getting one.

Agree with all of this. When I was younger, I wanted a bunny, but my mom grew up near people who raised bunnies and knew we weren’t prepared for one. If you are considering getting a pet for a child or a spouse or whoever because you think you are ready for a pet in general, talk to a clerk or someone with exceptional knowledge of animals to give you advice as to what you should get. Being ready for a pet doesn’t mean you’re ready for anything. All animals are different, and you should not undertake whatever seems cute or fun at the time. You must be prepared to commit to the needs of the animal.

Uggghhhhh at people who don’t realise animal companions take a whole lot of dedication and responsibility. There’s areas in Reykjavík where people generally go to just set their rabbits free because whoops you have to care for them??? and ugh people should have to take compulsory tests before getting animal companions. .____.
